THE CREDITS
Camel Buildout
Camel Buildout was a browser-based 3D construction game: a set of pieces and room to build anything, with no instructions and no set outcome. As lead engineer I owned the technical direction from concept to launch and led a small team.

THE CHALLENGE
Let players build almost anything, in the browser. That meant turning heavy 3D artwork into assets the web can render in real time, and making hundreds of interactions feel natural. Nothing off the shelf did what we wanted.
THE APPROACH
- Architecture. How construction, rendering, physics and interaction fit together, with a small engineering team.
- Custom physics. A physics system made just for Buildout.
- Asset pipeline. I turned the artist’s high-polygon models into optimized WebGL assets myself.
- Custom shaders. Written with design to get the project’s look in real time.
THE OUTCOME
We shipped a fully interactive 3D construction game. Players built original compositions and played through five themed stages.
